Description

INDICATIONS AND USAGE
COSYP – D Linctus is indicated for the treatment of irritating and / or dry cough associated with upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis and allergies.

CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is the d-isomer of the opioid agonist levomethorphan. It acts on cough control in the medulla and raises the threshold of cough. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide has an antitussive activity equivalent to that of codeine. It lacks analgesic and addictive properties and in antitussive doses shows no effects on respiration, the cardiovascular system or the gastrointestinal tract. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide in therapeutic doses does not inhibit ciliary activity and its antitussive effect persists for only 5 to 6 hours.
Chlorphenamine Maleate
Chlorphenamine is known for its anti-allergic activity because it competes with histamine for H1 – receptor sites on effector cells in respiratory tract.
