Mechanism of Action
Amoxiren 500 (Amoxicillin) is a bactericidal agent. It acts by interfering with synthesis of the peptidoglycan layer of the cell wall, which normally protects the bacterium from its environment. Defective wall synthesis renders the cell incapable of withstanding the osmotic gradient between the cell and its environment so that it swells and explodes.

Drug interactions
Drugs known to interact with amoxicillin include; allopurinol (Lopurin, Zyloprim), used to treat gout, high levels of uric acid in the body, and kidney stones, another drug used to treat gout, called probenecid (Benemid), other antibiotics, including chloramphenicol, sulfonamides, macrolides, and tetracycline
