PROXYREN
Proxyren (Piroxicam) is a cyclooxygenase inhibiting, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) that is well established in treating rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and used for musculoskeletal disorders, dysmenorrhea, and postoperative pain. Its long half-life enables it to be administered once daily.

Indications
Proxyren is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease) and ankylosing spondylitis and primary dysmenorrhea.

Side effects
Piroxicam is generally well tolerated. Gastrointestinal symptoms are the commonly encountered side effects. Peptic ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding have been reported. Oedema and changes in liver function tests have also occurred. Skin rashes including dermal hypersensitivity have been associated with therapy. As with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Stevens – Johnson syndrome may develop in rare cases.
Contra indications
Piroxicam is contraindicated in active peptic ulcer, known or suspected hypersensitivity to the drug or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Piroxicam should not be used in patients with the complete or partial syndrome of nasal polyps, or in whom asthma, anaphylaxis, urticaria, rhinitis or other allergic manifestations are precipitated by ASA or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
Drug interactions
Should not be taken with Ritonavir
