Indications
Indicated to treat bacterial infections such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, typhus fever, tick fevers, Q fever, rickettsial pox and Brill-Zinsser disease

Mechanism of action
Tetracycline binds to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosome’s and prevent binding of the aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosome acceptor site, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis.
Side effects
Nausea, vomiting diarrhea, and hypersensitivity reactions
Contra indications
Known hypersensitivity to tetracycline, renal impairment and children under
12 years of age. Use during pregnancy or lactation.
Drug interactions
Tetracycline chelates calcium and iron in the stomach, and their absorption is reduced by the presence of antacids or food. Also interacts with Anticoagulants (blood thinners), such as warfarin, Penicillin, Isotretinoin, Tretinoin, Cholesterol-lowering drugs, such as cholestyramine.
